40 years ago, September 5, 1986: Gaddafi slams US, allies
Colonel Muammar Gaddafi fiercely attacked the US and its allies, labeling them imperialist forces intent on destroying the freedom and independence of small countries. He urged the Non-Aligned Movement to devise a robust plan for collective defense against US imperialism and break all diplomatic relations with the US, UK, South Africa, and Israel. Concurrently, President Zia-Ul-Haq raised the Kashmir issue at the eighth Non-Aligned summit. Zia emphasized Pakistan's desire for tension-free relations with neighbors and promoting friendly ties with India.
